I have been dreaming of painting our house brick exterior white (or cream) for awhile, but just didn’t know if our HOA would approve it.  But it looks like they are allowing some now – woohoo!  And since a girl does dream, I already had a list of my favorite white paint colors – on hand.  So, I decided to do some extra digging (for painted white brick exterior home inspiration) to find the best paint color choices for our house, and hopefully for your house also. 15 Best White Paint Colors For Brick Exteriors

Just some helpful tips before we begin:

First:

• I have tried to add as many white paint colors that I could on different styles of houses, to help you visualize it on your own home.
• I also picked a variety of whites with different undertones – that may even lean gray, beige, or taupe. 
• FYI:  You can also use these white colors on different building materials other than brick – like siding, stucco, or wood. 

Second:

• Some of the inspiration photos gave more information than others, so that is why one will show the shutter or door colors, and another will only have the brick color.
• I just didn’t want you to think that I was leaving you out of the loop – LOL!!

Tips:

1.  Don’t forget to pin your favorite pictures, and write the colors down so you have something to go back to.

15 Best White Paint Colors For Brick Exteriors

1) Sherwin-Williams Spare White

Traditional Elegance:

• Brick:  SW 6203  Spare White 
• Garage Doors:  SW 7067 Cityscape
• Railings:  SW 7069 Iron Ore
• Door:  SW 3026 King’s Canyon

Spare White is a lighter shade of white with a slight green undertone.  It is a cool white that pairs well with the gray and black accent colors in the house below.

This color gives you a more subtle look, without the high contrast.

2) Benjamin Moore White Dove 

Traditional W/Columns:

• Brick:  Benjamin Moore White Dove (OC-17)
• BM White Dove is similar to SW Alabaster 7008 (but not an exact match).

White Dove is a brighter white, and is similar to SW’s Alabaster.  This color looks beautiful on modern farmhouse, colonial, or coastal style houses.

It’s a great choice for those of you who like a little more contrast, and works with almost any other accent color.

3) Sherwin-Williams Gossamer Veil

Traditional Tudor:

• Brick:  SW 9165 Gossamer Veil 
• Windows:  SW 6258 Tricorn Black  

This is the only color I chose that is not listed as a true “white.”  Gossamer veil is a cool white that looks a little more like a tan.  

I chose it because it is very soothing, and works great for those of you who want a “lighter house” color, just not a “whiter house” color.

4) Sherwin-Williams Dover White 

Transitional Stucco & Brick:

• Brick:  SW 6385  Dover White 
• Garage Doors:  SW 6258 Tricorn Black

Dover White is a warm white that has a subdued, yellow/khaki undertone.  It also one of Sherwin-Williams most popular creamy white paints, because of it’s soft appearance.

This color works great if you don’t like bright whites, or if you plan on using a lot of black accents, like the house below.

5) Sherwin-Williams Snowbound

Transitional W/Awning:  

• Brick:  SW 7004 Snowbound

Snowbound is a brighter white, and also one of Sherwin-Williams most popular “neutral whites.” 

It is a timeless white that has a slight grayish-pink undertone (but ever so slightly), and works with most accent colors.  

Snowbound is my personal favorite white (for indoor white colors), and is the color of our kitchen cabinets, trim, shiplap, and ceilings in our home.

6) Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa

Traditional Cottage:

• Brick:  SW 7551 Greek Villa
• Window Trim:  SW 0037 Morris Room Gray  

Greek Villa is a warm white, that a slight yellow undertone.  It is also a lighter white, and will contrast better against darker accent colors.

I really love the way the house below looks with this paint, the gray trim, and the cedar planks – very soft, classic combination.

7) Benjamin Moore Simply White

Custom Brookhaven:

• Brick:  BM Simply White (OC-117)
• Benjamin Moore Simply White is similar to Sherwin Williams SW 7566 Westhighland White  (but not an exact match).

Simply White is a warmer white with slight yellow undertones, and is also another one of Benjamin Moore’s most popular whites.

Simply white would also work great against a lot of darker painted accents, like the house below.

8) Sherwin-Williams Pure White

Modern Farmhouse:

• Brick:  SW 7005 Pure White
• Shutters:  Benjamin Moore Wales Gray – BM 1585

Normally, I would not have chosen something so white like Pure White, but it is absolutely stunning on this modern farmhouse.  

Pure white is definitely more of a true, crisp white and is also lighter in color.  I love how soft it appears against the Wales Gray Shutters and cedar-colored stained doors.

9) Sherwin-Williams Steamed Milk

Cozy Craftsman:

• Brick:  SW 7554 Steamed Milk
• Window Trim:  SW 6798 Iceberg

Steamed Milk is farthest down on my color chart choices (266 – C1) for white house exteriors, but just had to include it.

It is a warmer white with a slight peach undertone that works beautifully on the craftsman home below.  It is more subdued in appearance, and gives off such a cozy, nostalgic feeling.

10) Sherwin-Williams Alabaster

Coastal Cottage:  (Designer:  Chandler Bailey, Contractor:  Boyce Holmes)

• Brick:  SW 7008 Alabaster
• Shutters:  SW 7642 Pavestone

I’m sure by now you’ve already heard the name Alabaster.  It has been one of the most popular neutral whites for 5+ years now, and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

It is a cousin to Snowbound, but has a slight green/yellow undertone (again ever so slightly).

In my honest opinion (haha!), I feel that Alabaster leans more a little more “warm white”, whereas Snowbound leans more “cool white.”  

I’ve used both colors in my house, and that’s the only difference I can see.

11) Sherwin-Williams Shoji White

Traditional Colonial:

• Brick:  SW 7042 Shoji White
• Shutters:  SW 6992 Inkwell

Shoji white is a warm white, that leans a little tan.  I feel like this color is also a great neutral white though, because it really seems to go with most other accent colors.

This would be a great choice if you want the white look, without the bright white starkness.

12) Sherwin-Williams Oyster White

Transitional Cottage:

• Brick:  SW 7637 Oyster White

You have probably already seen this photo before since it’s been one of Houzz’s most popular photos for awhile now, but I just had to use it here.

Oyster white is a warm white that leans a little tan.  It is also softer in appearance, and is a darker color (254 – C7), so is not as bright as some of the other choices.

It is a great option though – for a neutral or timeless white look.

13) Sherwin-Williams Egret White

Stucco Color:

• Brick:  SW 7570 Egret White

Egret white runs a little bit darker also, but is only a C-4 (4th down on swatch).  

For some reason I see a hint of purple in it (don’t know why), so definitely it is a cool white. 

It gives off a tan/gray/taupe appearance, and works well with grays or dark charcoals.

14) Sherwin-Williams Moderne White

Coastal Colonial:

• Brick:  SW 6168 Moderne White

Moderne White (258 – C6) is a cool white that has slight green undertones, and is on the same swatch as Spare White (258 – C1).  

I just love the softness of this paint color, and how it blends in so well with the natural greenery.

15) Sherwin-Williams Aesthetic White

Cutesy Cottage:

• Brick:  SW 7035 Aesthetic White

Aesthetic White is another great neutral white that leans a little more towards the cool side. 

It is another one of Sherwin-William’s timeless colors that will work with most accent color choices.

I think this might be my favorite picture – not going to completely admit that 100% – but it really does make me smile.

The white paint makes a quiet backdrop, without striving for attention, and let’s the house speak for itself – love it!
