White & Neutral Christmas Table (in 5 Steps)

Need a simple, yet elegant place setting and centerpiece idea for your holiday table? I came up with a neutral Christmas tablescape idea that you can use as a foundation each year. Then you can simply tweak a couple of items and bam! – you’ll have a whole new look! This year I decided to use cranberry/burgundy as my pop of color, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand. White & Neutral Christmas Table (in 5 Steps)

Supplies for Centerpiece:

2 white fur cone trees
2 grapevine lighted cone trees – similar here
2 burlap Christmas trees – similar here
2 cranberry – colored taper candles
2 crystal candle holders
1 glass cake plate + (gold rim acrylic charger)
1 glass hurricane – here, here ore here set
1 white pillar candle
1 ivory/cream table runner – here velvet, here linen, shiny linen, burlap linen
2 white felt poinsettia picks
4 greenery picks – similar here or here
1-2 frosted eucalyptus pick (optional)
2 white pine cone picks
Cranberry-colored wreath

Supplies for Place Setting:

White dot dinner plate, salad plate, bowl – similar set here
White dinner napkins – similar here, here (red and green napkins available also)
Flatware rose gold/copper – here, here
Amber glasses – similar here or here
Gold ornaments (inside of bowls)

Tips:

I wanted to start off and say that this tutorial:

Can be modified – to fit your needs each year. Go bigger when you have more time, go smaller when you have less time.
Is convertible – you can move things from the centerpiece area when using for a dinner party. We ate our “Thanksgiving dinner” LOL – on this tablescape, and simply moved some of the Christmas accessories to make room for our serving dishes.
Is Celebratory – designed to celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!! So whatever that looks like for you and your family, then that is enough!!

Ok, let’s get to the 5 easy steps!

White & Neutral Christmas Table (in 5 Steps)

5 Easy Steps:

Use Ivory or White Table Runner/Tablecloth
Add Glass Cake Stand Centerpiece
Add Christmas Accessories
Use White Dinnerware/Dinner Napkins
*Add Accent Color

*The accent color is optional, but does help break up all of the white.

Step #1: Use Ivory or White Table Runner/Tablecloth

The first thing you will want to do is use an ivory or white table runner or tablecloth and put it onto/cover your table.

This will set the foundation for your white and neutral Christmas tablescape.

I like to use this ivory runner with tassels as my “go-to” for my dining table decorations.

It has a hint of cream – which helps bring a little warmth to the other white accent pieces.
And it blends all of the different golden tones together.

Here’s a picture below of the runner with all of the steps done – just so you can see all the colors together.

Step #2: Add Glass Cake Stand Centerpiece

Now that you have your table runner (or tablecloth down), it’s time to work on the actual centerpiece of your table.

This centerpiece:

glass cake stand
a glass hurricane and a white candle
2 green picks for each side (x2)
2 white poinsettia picks front side
2 white picks back side

It will look like this – pictured below.

Of course you can always tweak it with greenery or picks that you have on hand.

You can adjust the greenery picks (move them out a little) to fill in some gaps – once you get to step 3.

And I do love the gold dot rim on my cake plate, but you can always use a plain glass cake plate and add a gold dot rim charger (as a little dupe) 😉

Step #3: Add Christmas Accessories

Now it’s time to add some other decorative Christmas accent pieces to each side of the glass cake stand centerpiece.

Note: My items are tall (personal preference), but use the heights listed and picture below as reference. It’s all about scale.

2 grapevine lighted cone trees – (23″H)
2 fur cone trees – (21″H)
2 burlap trees – (18″H)

This is what they will look like (candle/candle stick – step 5).

Don’t be afraid to move things around or “shop” your Christmas closet each year first – before buying anything.

The grapevine lighted cone trees and burlap trees are from last year’s Christmas mantel decor! I love using things I already have at home too!

Here is a top view so that you can see the spacing of the decorative accents on the ivory table runner.

Step #4: Use White Dinnerware & White Dinner Napkins

The next thing you’ll want to do is to set up your place setting by adding white dinnerware and white dinner napkins to your tablescape.

I decided to use:

white dinnerware/white napkins
amber glasses
rose gold flatware
gold ornaments (inside bowls)

The white dot dinnerware is another go-to for decorating my table settings because it is so versatile.

The “Christmas word” napkins are from another holiday table I decorated a couple of years ago, so I used them again here.
And the amber glasses, rose gold flatware (and candle sticks/candle – step 5) are from this year’s Thanksgiving table.
