- (2) orange thistle bush
- (2) mauve thistle bush
- (1) orange flower bush – that you will cut
- needle nose pliers
- white cake stand
- gold candle holder set
- ivory/cream table runner – here velvet, here linen, shiny linen, burlap linen
You can use whatever artificial greenery or floral picks you have on hand.
- *I had these 2 different greenery picks leftover from another project, so I just used them both.
- You can use all of the same greenery picks if you like them to match.
Feel free to tweak as needed!
Ok, let’s get to it! Simple DIY Fall Table Centerpiece Idea.
Simple DIY Fall Table Centerpiece Idea
Step 1: Place Cake Stand Onto Table Runner
For this first part, you will simply place the white cake stand onto your ivory table runner.
Then you can do a test run of where you will want your greenery to be placed.
Step 2: Add Greenery to Base of Cake Stand
Next you will add your greenery to the base of the cake stand so that you can’t see the stems poking out.
- You might have to play around with part or rearrange you greenery picks.
It will end up looking like a wreath around your cake stand.
Step 3: Add 2 Orange + 2 Mauve Thistle Picks
Now you will just add 2 orange picks + 2 mauve thistle picks to the base of your cake stand – on opposite sides of each other.
For these picks, it might be easier to separate them (or pull them apart) a little bit to spread them out more.
Here’s a better picture so that you can see that they don’t lie flat.
Some stems will go out and up, or in and down, etc.
Step 4: Add Orange Floral Stems To Greenery
For this part, just take your needle nose pliers and cut each of the stems of the bushel into individual pieces.
I think my bushel had 8 stems. Oh, and mine were also messy – sorry!
Now simply fill the holes or gaps in you greenery with these orange picks.
- These will look more realistic if you curve the stems a little bit.
- Then place some going up, and some going down, etc.
Here is what it will look like.
- Some of the orange flowers will be placed closer into the base, and some farther out to the edges of the greenery.
- This random placement is what makes it look real.
And You Are Done!!
Add a gold with glass candle holder and your favorite fall candle!
- And…. let there be light!!
I love how soft, simple, and elegant it looks – all at the same time.
Plus, you can use this centerpiece for rectangular and round tables – Yes, please!
I hope you found some inspiration and helpful tips to try your own fall table centerpiece – masterpiece!!
- Coming soon – See how it all turned out with the table decorated.

Have a Very Happy Fall!
