We all know that choosing white paint colors is tough. And since I have recently painted our kitchen and living room Sherwin-Williams Incredible White SW 7028, I wanted to share my thoughts about it with you. It is a beautiful soft white that has violet undertones that reminds me of weathered river rocks. So, let’s get to it! SW Incredible White Review (Painting Our Kitchen/Living Room).
SW Incredible White Review
(Painting Our Kitchen/Living Room)
Our house has been painted in different shades of blue, but I have been leaning more into the “more neutral” shades/whites lately.
Here pictured below are our newer house paint colors and ones that I am wanting to try out (or have tried out). They are all from Sherwin-Williams.
- Snowbound – all trim, cabinets, shiplap, ceilings, etc.
- Tinsmith – foyer/entryway
- Pearly White – new dining room color
- Origami White – new master bedroom and bath
- Aesthetic White – new exterior brick house makeover
SW Incredible White Review
(Painting Our Kitchen/Living Room)
Let’s start off with what our kitchen & living room used to look like.
The walls were painted SW Silver Strand with SW Snowbound trim.
- And I have loved our SW Silver Strand walls – it is such a soothing and serene color.
- But we have had it for the last 5 years, and it is time for a change.
Here are some before pics (with some clearing out of junk) before painting.
Before pic kitchen banquette area.

Paint Samples:
I wanted to show you the paint samples on the wall where the kitchen meets the living room.
- The first picture will give you an idea of the different undertones against the SW Silver Strand wall.
- The second picture will show you the paint samples by name.
The reason I put the samples on the walls was to compare the different white “shades” with the existing colors that were already in the room.
This is a good way to double check that you are choosing samples that:
- work with other colors in your house (warm or cool tones)
- you can see the colors in the exact lighting (this is the room that the new color will go in)
- you can compare them side-by-side (see the other undertones)

SW Incredible White Review
(Painting Our Kitchen/Living Room)
#1) What color did I want for our kitchen & living room?
I wanted a white paint color that was different from the green undertones in SW Silver Strand, but also wanted to make sure that the new color coordinated with the blue/gray kitchen backsplash.
- Pearly White and Origami White – slight yellow-ish undertones
- Crushed Ice – slight gray/green undertones
- Egret White & Incredible White – slight purple/pink/taupe/beige undertones
#2) Why did I choose SW Incredible White?
To be completely honest, I really didn’t know if I fell in love with any of the paint colors – lol!
I had been wanting to try out a color that leaned a little more beige/taupe, and I had narrowed the choices down to Egret White and Incredible White.
- So we left it up to a family vote, and my girls decided on Incredible White.
Sometimes that’s how it rolls around here ๐
Ok, let’s get the SW Incredible White Review.
SW Incredible White Review
Review #1:
I don’t want this post to get too “technical” with all of the paint color mumbo-jumbo, but just wanted to share with you some tips and honest review of our new kitchen/living room paint color.

Did I happen to mention that:
- Incredible White SW 7028 is one color up from Sherwin-Williams’s #1 paint color Agreeable Gray SW 7029?
Let’s compare these 2 colors next.
Comparing Incredible White SW 7028 versus Agreeable Gray SW 7029
Agreeable Gray SW 7029
- LRV: 60
- RGB: 209 / 203 / 193
- Hex Value: #D1CBC1
- Location Number: 243-C1
- Warm paint color
- SW Best Selling Color
- Incredible White is 7028, and Agreeable Gray is 7029 = same color family.
- Incredible White is cool, Agreeable Gray is warm.
- Agreeable White is darker (LRV:60), Incredible White is lighter (LRV: 74).
- Both are neutral colors with slight violet (purple/hint of pink) undertones.
- Both are greige (gray + beige) colors.
Conclusion: If Agreeable Gray is Sherwin-William’s most popular paint color, and Incredible White is one paint swatch above….. then drop the mike/enough said – right?
Let’s see. ๐
Review #2:
Now, what about Egret White?
Comparing Incredible White SW 7028 versus Egret White SW 7570
Egret White SW 7570
- LRV: 70
- RGB: 223/218/209
- HEX Value: #DFD9CF
- Location number: 255-C4
- Cool white paint color
- SW Top 50 Colors 2021, Finest Whites & Neutrals
You can see from the 2 swatches on the piece of white copy paper (above) that:
- SW Incredible White has a little more gray in it and is lighter (LRV: 74).
- SW Egret White has a little more beige (with hint of green) in it and is darker (LRV: 70).
- Both are cool whites.
I think both colors look like a great fit for our SW Snowbound trim and the blue/gray tile – so either choice would have worked for our home.
My Final Thoughts About SW Incredible White:
It’s a gorgeous color, but it has been a little out of my comfort zone.
- And it does seem to be more of a “tricky” white/neutral – or maybe more taste specific.
In our house:
- It reads slightly pink/purple in the morning light, and reads more beige in the afternoon light.
But I feel like beige/taupe/mauve is going to be the new decorating trend – so I’m gonna have to put my big girl panties on and deal with it – LOL!!
My recommendation:
- Try SW Egret White and SW City Loft also – I feel like they may have less undertones.
Ok, let’s get to Painting Our Kitchen/Living Room.
Painting Our Kitchen/Living Room
I started painting in the corner of our living room because I like to work left to right.
I also like to paint the area at the trim and base boards with my paint brush first, so that I can roll the other areas faster.
And you can see the other paint samples again on this wall – incredible white is the bottom one.
Here are some more pics while I’m painting.
And here was the last wall where our living room connects to the SW Tinsmith wall.
Well – I thought this was the last wall – haha!!
So after one WHOLE day…..I literally could not stand looking into the hallway where it was still painted SW Silver Strand.
I was trying to decide if it would be Incredible White or Origami White since it connects to our bedroom.
Yep, you guessed it! I pulled back out ALL of my painting gear and painted it Incredible White anyway.
Mission accomplished!
It is done!!
