  2.   Sherwin-Williams Color Forecast

Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2023: Redend Point

So before we begin diving into all of the colors, let’s go over some terms.

  • R,G,B = Red, Green, Blue color values (0-255)
  • Hex code:   6-digit code that represents R,G,B value
  • LRV = Light Reflective Value (0-100), 0 = darkest light, 100 = brightest light

And I won’t get too technical on this post, but just wanted to give you a brief summary of how the paint chips are configured and grouped.

Redend Point SW9081 Details:

  • LRV: 30
  • RGB: 174 / 142 / 126
  • Hex Value: #AE8E7E
  • Location Number:  (195-C4)
  • Red Paint Family

In Summary:

Since Redend Point has a low LRV:  30 – means that it will read medium-to darker and not bounce off too much light.

  • So, it is definitely a “moodier” color.

It is also in the red paint family, and you can see that it has a higher percentage of Red:  174 (out of 255).

  • This means that it is a warmer color.

My Thoughts:

I personally feel like it is a beautiful chameleon color which can go with:

  • mauves (cooler tones)
  • southwest terra cotta + clay + earth tones (red oranges)
  • dusty rose + bronze rose (red browns)
  • beiges (warmer tones)

  • I love that the colors are soft and soothing, but yet add a punch of depth and energy as well.
  • It is a well-rounded color palette that allows you to work with soft neutrals or dark colors -when decorating.
  • I think these are the colors that will begin to trend in the next several years (dusty rose/pinks & sage/olive greens).

So let’s get to some fun!  How we can actually use some of these colors!

Color Forecast

I decided to make 2 different mood boards to show how I would use the colors in the color forecast:
