Over the years I have noticed that fall and holiday decorating is following the “less is more” trend, and I am loving this new minimalist look. So I decided to come up with a very quick and easy table decoration idea this year that you can put together in minutes! All you need is a round tray, burgundy and cream floral picks, a glass bowl, and scented potpourri. Plus you can tweak it with a more traditional orange color palette too – if that’s more your style. Let’s get to it!! Simple Fall Coffee Table Centerpiece: 3 Steps.

Simple Fall Coffee Table Centerpiece: 3 Steps
Supplies:
- Round tray – similar here, here, here
- Burgundy floral picks – similar here, here
- Ivory heather bushel – similar here, here
- Glass pie plate – here or (Glass trifle bowl – here)
- Fall potpourri – Apple Cinnamon – here or (Pumpkin Patch – here)
I decided to use burgundy floral picks for this centerpiece and therefore the apple cinnamon potpourri fit with my cranberry color scheme.
Tweak It:
Feel free to change it up and use orange floral picks, and then use the pumpkin patch potpourri to fit with the spiced orange color scheme.
Move It:
This fall tray can work for your coffee table, dining table, or even your entryway console.
And it can be moved easily around your house when you need an instant pop of color (and fall fragrance). Yes Please!
Ok, let’s get to it!! Simple Fall Coffee Table Centerpiece: 3 Steps!

Easy 3 Steps:
Step #1: Gather Supplies
Step #2: Put Floral Picks Into Round Tray
Step #3: Fill Pie Plate With Potpourri

Step #1: Gather Supplies
The first thing you’ll want to do is gather all of the supplies for your centerpiece.
- You might want to “shop” your own home first.
- Then you can figure out if you’ll need to buy anything else.
I “shopped” my house, and found this cute little black round tray.
It was a container that held succulents, that a friend of mine gave to me a couple of years ago.
- And this tray became the inspiration for the centerpiece!
So, you just never know what you already have on hand. 😉
Here is a picture of the supplies I am using.
- To tweak it for an orange color palette: use 4 orange floral picks and orange-colored potpourri.
Step #2: Put Floral Picks Into Round Tray
Now, it’s time to put all of the floral picks and arrange them in your round tray.
Basically, I have ~10 picks that I was using for my tray:
- 4 burgundy picks and
- 1 large cream heather bushel (that I took apart to make 6 smaller picks).
You will put your 4 burgundy floral picks into the tray first.
- (2 picks) at 2 and 10 – similar to hands on a clock.
- (2 picks) at 4 and 8 – similar to hands on a clock.
They will end up looking like a “x” – see the picture below.
Next you will simply fill in the gaps between the 4 burgundy picks – with the cream picks.
- Roughly at 12, 3, 6, and 9 – similar to hands on a clock.
You can also see that the floral picks are hanging over the outside of the rim – just a little bit.
- This will help the tray look more full and plush.
Step #3: Fill Pie Plate With Potpourri
Now that you have all of your floral stems arranged in the tray, it’s time to add your glass pie plate and potpourri.
Here is a closeup picture of the apple cider cinnamon potpourri scent I used.
You can see how it has several different shades of burgundy, red, and cranberry – which adds depth and interest to the vignette.
TIP: I like to dump my potpourri into a plastic bag (like a grocery bag) first, and then use that bag to squeeze it into a large ziploc bag.
- This just makes it easier to fill your pie plate or bowl (with less mess).
- Plus you will be able to add your liquid scent to the ziploc bag for next year!
Then you will fill your pie plate or bowl with the potpourri.
This is a good time to arrange the pieces that you like more – in your bowl.
Next, you will simply place the pie plate (or bowl) directly on top of your floral picks.
This is what it will look like when done.
- I love how it enhances the burgundy floral picks and adds a deep, rich element to the entire design.
- Plus the earthy browns and wooden pieces lighten up the darker shades for a subtle contrast.
And you are done!!
Just add it to your living room coffee table (or dining table) all by itself – for an instant fall decoration showpiece!!
Or if you need a little more drama, add a couple of books and candlesticks to complete the look!
Not only does it look pretty, it smells fantastic!
You can dress it up or down to fit your style and your needs!
So Easy-Peasy!!
Well, what do you think? Simple and classic – right?
Have a Very Happy Fall & Thanksgiving!!
Love & Fall Hugs 🙂
