Last year I did a post on wrapping Christmas gifts tips & ideas (green and navy), so I decided to do a similar post this year using shades of blue. I wanted to share how to mix-n-match different Christmas wrapping paper patterns together, by using 1-2 ribbons colors and gift accessories, so that you can coordinate your presents to your Christmas tree. Plus, these tips will come in handy when using leftover wrapping paper also! Let’s get to it! 5 Best Tips: Wrapping Christmas Gifts Blue.

5 Best Tips: Wrapping Christmas Gifts Blue
Tip #1: Choose 5 Coordinating Wrapping Paper Rolls
The first thing you will want to do is choose your wrapping paper colors and/or theme.
- My color palette this year is white, blue, and copper brown.
I am using 5 different wrapping paper choices to give you an idea of how to mix and match colors and patterns.
Here are the 5 that I chose this year:
- Teal Dot, House, White, Silver Dot, Blue Snowflake
I am calling the lighter dot “silver dot”, but it is really a very light blue. You could still use silver also.
Let’s break them down into 2 sides so that you can see the different shades of blue.
I am also using the same tips from my post last year – 1 solid, 1 pattern, 1 neutral.
With 3 choices from Left Side: More Blue-Green
- 1 solid color (white)
- 1 pattern (house)
- 1 neutral (teal dot)
With 3 choice from Right Side: More Blue-Gray
- 1 solid color (white)
- 1 pattern (blue snowflake)
- 1 neutral (silver dot)
Helpful recommendations:
- have at least 1-2 darker colors (teal, blue snowflake) to add some contrast
- use at least 1 larger print (house) to create a focal point
- choose smaller patterns that look similar – dots, trees, plaids, stripes, etc.
- *You can also use these tips with other colors: reds, greens, purples, black and whites, metallic shades, etc.
TIP #2: Pick 1-2 Ribbon & Accent Colors
Now that you have chosen your wrapping paper, it’s time to choose ribbon and accent colors.
(I chose to use ribbon and accent colors that coordinated with my color theme and tree).
So my ribbon colors are:
- white (grois grain) and white/brown birch
And my accent/ accessory colors are:
- white snowflake ornaments
- copper brown ornaments
- blue ornaments
Helpful recommendations:
- use accessories that match your ribbon (brown in ribbon, copper brown ornament)
- choose ribbon colors that go with wrapping paper (white ribbon)
Tip #3: Choose Boxes In Multiple Shapes & Sizes
This tip will seem very obvious, but I just wanted to mention it.
I know that you will have different box sizes than mine (depending on what’s IN your boxes- lol), but at least you can see how my turned out.

You’ll also notice how I attached different ribbons and accents/accessories to different wrapping paper colors/patterns.
- White grois grain ribbon is attached to 3 patterns, birch ribbon attached to 2 patterns.
- Copper & blue ornaments attached to 2 different patterns.
- Snowflake ornament attached to 2 different patterns.
In other words, you will only need a couple of accents/accessories, and the rest of them will still be kept simple (only white ribbon).
This tip will come into play with step #5 – the presentation and placement under the tree.
With 3 choices from Left Side: More Blue-Green
With 3 choices from Right Side: More Blue-Gray
Tip #4: Mix-n-Match Different Colors
Now, let’s mix-n-match the different wrapping paper colors and patterns.
I wanted to start off with the same sets that I have been referring to – just to make it easier.
With 3 choices from Left Side: More Blue-Green
With 3 choices from Right Side: More Blue-Gray
Now let’s mix 4 wrapping paper choices together.

Ok, who’s ready to see all 5 choices together?
Tip #5: Coordinate with Tree Color or Theme
So, once you have all of your gifts wrapped and ready, it’s time to put them under your tree.
And of course, presentation makes the entire tree come to life.
