I always like to start off by saying that decorating for Christmas is not about perfection or even a beautiful end product – it’s all about the Christmas spirit.

Bloggers show the “best” pictures because most of us are visual learners, but I can promise you there’s a whole lot of chaos happening on the other side of that phone/camera – lol!

So, remember not to be hard on yourself when decorating this year – it has been a LONG year for everyone.

Decorate like you are setting a table for Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and know that He will LOVE whatever your “end product” looks like!

Amen!

Ok, let’s get to the 5 easy steps on how to set up White Christmas Table Decorations.

  5.   *Add Accent Color/Ornaments

*The accent color is optional, but does help break up all of the white.

Let’s get to it!  White Christmas Table Decorations (In 5 Easy Steps).

White Christmas Table Decorations (In 5 Easy Steps)

Step #1:  Use a White or Ivory Table Runner/Tablecloth

The first thing you will want to do is use an ivory/white table runner or tablecloth and put it onto/cover your table.

  • This will set the foundation for your white Christmas tablescape.

I like to use this ivory runner with tassels as my “go-to” for my dining table decorations.

It has a hint of cream… which helps bring a little warmth to the other white accent pieces and blends all of the different shades of “white” together.

Step #2:  Add White Cake Stand Centerpiece

Now that you have your table runner (or tablecloth down), it’s time to work on the actual centerpiece of your table.

This centerpiece:

  • white cake stand (13″ diameter)
  • a silver leaf wreath (12″ diameter ring in back, ~16″ with leaves)
  • a glass hurricane (8″h x 7.5″ diameter) and a white candle (3″w x 6″h)

I love that this centerpiece sits very low, so that your guests will be able to see each other from across the table.

Step #3:  Add Christmas Accessories

Now it’s time to sprinkle in some other decorative Christmas accent pieces to the middle of your table.

  • I added 2 silver sequin reindeer and 2 ceramic ivory Christmas trees – to each side of the white cake stand centerpiece.

Try to make sure that all of your Christmas accessories are low (~13″H or shorter), to keep sightlines open.

I added the small white groisgrain ribbon/bow to the reindeer to give them a little contrast, and make them more feminine.

And I know you’re saying to yourself:  “Isn’t the silver glitter feminine enough”?

Hmm….. nope! 😉

Step #4:  Use White Dinnerware & White Dinner Napkins

The next thing you’ll want to do is add white dinnerware (or bone china) and white dinner napkins to your tablescape.

The white dot dinnerware is another go-to for decorating my table settings because they are so versatile.

And you have probably seen these Christmas napkins from another holiday table I decorated a couple of years ago, so I used them again here.

Step #5:  Add Accent Color/Ornaments

So, this is where you can customize your white Christmas table with the “accent” color you want.

  • I chose to use blue and copper ornaments to punch up the contrast, and then added gold mercury glass votives to warm the table up a little bit.

And here pictured below are the copper pinecone ornaments (they are my favorite item in the entire tablescape – probably the glitter – lol)!

  • I decided to add that white groisgrain ribbon again – just to tie in with the reindeer.

  • I also added a matching silver wreath with a blue striped bow on our buffet mirror – to help tie in all of the colors.

And here (below) is a picture of the matching silver wreath.  I love how the mirror wreath connects to the table wreath.

TIP –  You can also keep everything neutral:

  • using burlap for a more casual look or
  • using all metallic for a more formal look

Ok, let’s see how it all turned out!

After Pictures

Well, right off the bat – Can you tell that the candle on the centerpiece is a little to the left?

Here’s to “not being a perfect end result.”

And…. it’s.all.good!!  😉

Just a sidebar:  I used all LED candles this year (a first), so I’m still deciding if I like them in here or not.

They are definitely easier to use, and they won’t burn that wreath 😉 ….. but I do love real candles.

We’ll see.

In the picture below you can tell that the dinnerware is more ivory when compared to the true white napkins.

  • So just make sure you have some different shades of white when setting up your tabletop decor.  It keeps the eye moving around, creating more interest.

And of course, you already know that I love me some texture.  But if that’s not your look, keep your accent pieces smooth with clean lines.
