Couple of Things:

#1) If Using Round Tray + Trifle Dish:

  • My tray is 14″ diameter x 4 ” deep
  • My trifle dish is 8.5″ diameter x 8″ H (bowl part is 5″H)

Make sure that your round tray diameter is larger than your trifle dish – just so you can see the greenery.

Also you will want your tray to be at least 2″ deep, or your trifle “stem” will be too tall (and then you’ll need to add more greenery).

#2) If Tweaking by Using Things At Home:

  • You can use a glass bowl instead of the trifle dish, and simply set it directly onto your greenery.
  • This project will work with a rectangular/square tray also.  (You’ll just have to tweak the greenery and glass dish portions).
  • Use whatever color of Christmas ornament balls you already have on hand – that fit your color theme (red, green, gold, silver, etc).
  • Try using Christmas floral stems or garland – instead of greenery picks.
  • If “flocked” and “glistened” – aren’t your thang …..LOL…. use the greenery picks that suite your style best.

Just remember that it’s your Christmas masterpiece – so customize it to fit your needs.

Then all you will have to do is figure out where you’re going to put it! 😉

Ok, let’s get to it!  EASY 5-Minute Christmas Centerpiece Idea.

Step #1:  Gather Supplies

The first thing you’ll want to do is gather all of the supplies for your centerpiece.

You might want to “shop” your own goodies first, to see what you already have at home.  Then you can figure out if you’ll need to buy anything else.

Pictured below are the Christmas picks and round tray that I am using for this project.

And I forgot to take a picture of my trifle dish – ugh – but here is what it looks like.

Don’t forget that you can use a glass bowl also.

Step #2:  Put Greenery Into Round Tray

Now, it’s time to put all of the floral picks and arrange them in your tray.

Basically, I have 8 picks for my tray:

  • 2 glistened green picks
  • 3 flocked picks
  • 3 glistened white picks

Put your 2 “longest” floral picks in the tray first – then build onto these.

  • Roughly at 3 and 6 on a clock.

I am leaving space in the middle for my trifle dish stem – just a FYI 😉

Next put 2 of your flocked floral picks into your tray.

  • Roughly at 2 and 8 on a clock.

Notice that I overlapped these flocked picks onto the 1st 2 picks, but just a little.

Now put 2 of your white glistened floral picks into your tray.

  • Roughly at 5 and 10 on a clock.

And you can see that I overlapped these picks onto the 1st 2 green picks also.

This overlapping just helps to fill in those green “grass” looking stems a little bit.

So now you can see that there are 2 spots left to fill – so just place one white glistened pick into the tray.

  • Roughly at 12 on the clock.

And now place the remaining flocked pick into the tray.

  • Roughly at 6 on the clock.

Step #3:  Fill Trifle with Ornaments & Put Into Tray

Now that you have all of your greenery arranged in the tray, it’s time to add your trifle dish.

Just fill the glass trifle dish with your favorite Christmas ornament balls.

  • Use multi-color to pull in all of the colors in your Christmas theme.
  • Or use one – or just 2 colors for more impact.

I am using blue, copper brown, and white this year – so these are the colors I chose for my glass dish.

  • Use different sizes of balls to add interest, and to help fill those open gaps in your bowl.
  • I also like to add gold and silver just to help neutralize it (from looking “too” matchy-matchy).

Just put your trifle dish into the middle of your tray and you are done.

If using a bowl, simply sit it directly on top of your greenery.

TIP:  Tweak it! If using a bowl – simply sit it on top of a small drinking glass (turned upside down) to make your own trifle dish!
