I love all things Easter, and decorating our dining room table definitely ranks #1 on my list. I like to begin with an inspiration color palette or accent piece, and then let the creativity flow. This year I was blessed to have both! I found these little wooden cross ornaments (last year), and could not WAIT to create something special with them. Once I decided that purple was going to be the theme of our Easter Tablescape this year, the vision came to life. So, who’s ready for the tutorial? DIY Easter Cross Napkin Rings: Table Setting Ideas.

Ok – who’s ready for the DIY Easter Cross Napkin Rings tutorial?
DIY Easter Cross Napkin Rings: Table Setting Ideas
STEP 1: TAPE OR REMOVE JUTE STRING
The first thing you will want to do is tape off or remove your jute string from your cross ornaments.
I taped the string because I thought I wanted to use it for the napkin rings, but then decided to change it to the sheer ribbon.
TIP: I will be the first to admit that removing the string is by far the way to go – ha! Trust me! Taping does take a little time.
*So, if you’re changing out the ribbon, simply remove the string.
STEP 2: SPRAY PAINT CROSSES PURPLE
After you have taped or removed your jute string, place the wooden crosses in a old box or use a painter’s cloth to protect your floor.
Spray paint both sides of your crosses.
I did 2 coats on each side, and let them dry about 20 minutes in between.
*Then I let them dry a full day before working with them.
STEP 3: ATTACH SHEER RIBBON
If you’re planning on using the jute string, just skip this step.
I cut my lavender ribbon 16 inches each x 6, for my 6 wooden crosses. If you are making more than 6 napkin rings, get 2 rolls of the ribbon.
TIP: I wrapped my ribbon around my napkin first to make sure it was long enough, so you might want to double check your’s also.
Now you can twist the ends of the ribbon together tightly so that it will fit through the small hole cutout in the cross.
Then slide the ribbon twist through the hole, and fluff the ribbon so that it looks like a bow.
You might have a little fringed ribbon from getting it through the cutout. Just cut that part off.
STEP 4: ATTACH PAPER & RHINESTONE FLOWERS
I used 2 different types of purple floral embellishments for my napkin rings, just to add a little variety.
I made 4 crosses with the paper flowers for my side place settings, and 2 with the rhinestone flowers for my captain chairs place settings in our Easter tablescape.
For pictures shown today, I just put them in the middle (see end of post).
The rhinestone flowers came with adhesive backing, but the paper flowers did not. So I used glue dots to attach the paper flowers onto the crosses.
I placed one rhinestone purple flower onto the middle top of the cross, and used 5 paper flowers (each) for the other crosses.
Just play around with them, and see what you like best.
This is perfect for a kid’s craft also. They can add the floral embellishments to personalize each cross, and be a part of your Easter table decoration.
YOU ARE DONE!!
Add them to the top of your place setting to bring in a little purple cheer, or use them on the side with silverware for a more traditional look.
They will add a beautiful religious touch to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And that in itself, is beautiful all by itself!
Have a Very Happy Easter!
Love & Easter Hugs 🙂
