SUPPLIES:

Alternative :  *You can also use different patterned pink scrapbook paper: stripes, polka dots, solid, and with hearts.  Cut them roughly 5″W x 7″L.  Attach with ribbon or ornament hooks.*

Here’s a closeup of the drawstring gift bags that I found.  This will help you with a pink color reference -kind of a bubble gum pink.

Here is the 3-Step Tutorial:

STEP 1:  String Pom Pom Garland Through Bags

You will thread one strand of pom pom garland into 3 of you 6 valentine’s bags, and repeat the process again.

Just figure out how you want your patterns to look, so that you have an idea what colors work best together.

TIP:  Tighten your drawstrings just a little bit.  This will make getting the pom pom garland threaded through much easier.

*** If using scrapbook paper, simply whole punch 2 holes on the top right and top left sides of paper.  Attach with pink ribbon, jute, or ornament hanger.

STEP 2:  Attach Garland to Mantel

Measure your mantel, and mark the middle spot (with pencil or tape for reference only).

You will take one garland strand and attach to the left side of the mantel and to the middle mark – using clear packing tape.  Then repeat for the right side.

TIP:  Tape the strand about 3-5 inches onto the mantel shelf, so that you can’t see your tape.

Where the two strands meet in the middle, simply bend them a little to make a “swag” look.

Now, just tape the middle section of both sides (each garland strand) to the mantel.  I did mine a little off-centered to make it more whimsical.

If you like this look (as is), you can always just leave it.  It’s cute either way!

STEP 3:  Attach Foam Hearts

My package of foam hearts came with 4 different colors, so I just used a couple of each color for my mantel garland.

Whole punch at the top middle of each heart.  I used 9 hearts for mine, but feel free to choose the amount that works best you.

Then attach small and short ornament hooks randomly to the hearts you want to use.

Now just hang the hearts at random heights on your garland.  You might want to play with a mix-n-match system just to see what look you’re going for.

And YOU ARE DONE!!
